Itinerary

Day 1: Johannesburg - Kapama Private Game Reserve

On arrival in Johannesburg, we will be met by our Goway representative and assisted to our domestic flight to Hoedspruit. Upon arrival, we transfer to our lodge for check in, our home for the next 3 nights.  We have time to relax after lunch before setting off on our first game drive in open 4x4 vehicles.  Tonight we dine under the stars, with a bush dinner at the lodge.

Day 2: Kapama Private Game Reserve

We pay a visit to the Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre, whose core focus is on the conservation of rare, vulnerable or endangered animals. We embark on our afternoon game drive and enjoy sundowners in the bush before returning to our lodge for a sumptuous dinner. Breakfast, lunch and dinner included.

Day 3: Kapama Private Game Reserve

Today we spend the day in the Kapama Private Reserve with the morning & afternoon game drives, taking in the South African wildlife and tracking the animals that may have eluded us. There is also the option to join a bush walk, visit one of the wellness centres, or even take a hot air balloon (wellness centre and balloon ride are on own account). Breakfast, lunch and dinner included.

Day 4: Hoedspruit to Cape Town

We transfer to Hoedspruit Airport for our domestic flight to Cape Town. On arrival we will be met and transferred to our hotel overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.  We enjoy a cocktail sundowner on the terrace at sunset prior to proceeding to dinner at the award winning Azure Restaurant. Breakfast and dinner included.

Day 5: Touring Cape Peninsula

A full day touring the ruggedly beautiful Cape Peninsula winding our way through some of the most spectacular coastal scenery in the world.  We stop off to see the lovable penguins at Boulders Beach and drive through the quaint naval village of Simon’s Town. Continue to the Cape Point Nature Reserve where we take the Funicular to the Lighthouse. Thereafter a 5 course wine pairing lunch at The Foodbarn Restaurant prior to heading back to Cape Town via the picturesque Chapmans Peak. Breakfast and dinner included.

Day 6: Walk to Freedom Tour

We begin the day with a Private Walk to Freedom Tour including local Townships and District Six. This afternoon we head to the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront where there is a choice to either join the Robben Island Tour or enjoy leisure time at the Waterfront.  We end the day with a unique Cape Town Dinner Experience - Kaapse Stories at the Rockwell Dinner Theatre. Breakfast and dinner included.

Day 7: Full Day Winelands Tour

After breakfast we journey into the tranquil Cape Winelands of Franschhoek and visit some of the world famous wineries, and enjoy tastings at well-known estates. The quaint village of Franschhoek is known locally as well as internationally as the gourmet capital of South Africa.  We make a stop at the Franschhoek Motor Museum which has an astonishing collection of cars in the middle of vineyards.  A light lunch will be served at Greenhouse Restaurant before proceeding for a wine tasting and tour at Babylonstoren.  Dinner tonight will be at a unique African Restaurant in the heart of Cape Town, GOLD Restaurant. Breakfast, lunch and dinner included.

Day 8: Cape Town to Victoria Falls

Today we are transferred to Cape Town International Airport for our flight to Victoria Falls, one of the original natural wonders of the world, known locally as ‘The Smoke that Thunders’.  We transfer to The Victoria Falls Hotel. This evening we will meet the historian Peter Jones and learn the history of Dr Livingstone and Zambia. Breakfast and dinner included.

Day 9: Victoria Falls

A guided Tour of the mighty Victoria Falls is first on the line up today. We’ll walk through the permanent, beautifully misty Rain Forest which flanks the Falls, stopping to marvel at the principal sites as it cascades to the depths below.  Lunch will be served at the Look Out Café.  This afternoon we embark on a Sunset Cruise on the Zambezi River, before a dinner and drum show at The Boma, an entertainment experience specializing in traditional African food.  

Day 10: Victoria Falls to Chobe National Park

After a leisurely breakfast, we transfer to Chobe, Botswana.  The Chobe River forms the northern boundary of the Chobe National Park, renowned for its reliable and diverse game viewing.  This section of the park is best known for its elephant and hippo populations but the waters attracts all manner of game including large herds of buffalo and the lions that prey on them.  This afternoon activity could be either a boat cruise or a game drive in the Chobe National Park. Breakfast, lunch and dinner included.

Day 11: Chobe National Park

An early morning wake up with a light snack prior to our early morning activity. We return to the lodge for breakfast and some relaxation. We then set off for our mid-morning activity and return in time for lunch. Later we embark on our afternoon activity followed by dinner. Breakfast, lunch and dinner included.

Day 12: Departure

An early morning game drive will begin our last day in Chobe.  We transfer from Chobe Game Lodge to Kasane Airport for our regional flight to Johannesburg, for our international flight home. Breakfast included.
